Lionel Gosseaume is a winegrower's son and grandson. He grew up in his family's vineyard but spent the majority of his adult life as far away from the vines as he could. He came home in 2007 and purchased his own 22-acre vineyard from his father's friend, Jean-Claude.

The vineyard is in the AOC Touraine of the Loire Valley, halfway between the famous Châteaux of Chambord and Chenonceaux. It is mostly planted with the aromatic grape Sauvignon Blanc (75% of the vines) and the delicious red grape Gamay (20% of the vines).

However, it also includes two extremely rare white varieties: Mesliers Saint François and Menu-Pineau, both of which had nearly vanished from France.

The estate is partly made up of antique vines that are 25 years old on average. Clay and silt soils are ideal for producing light, fruity wines with particular minerality and delicacy.
