Located in the centre of Rioja Alavesa, Badiola is a new winery that offers a different take on Rioja wines by putting more of a focus on site than ageing. It was formed in 2018.

Situated mostly around the communities of Villabuena, Leza, Laguardia, and Baños del Ebro, the vineyards are part of the Sierra Cantabria, and each terroir contributes unique characteristics to the wines produced.

Packed with character, these low-yielding, exceptionally old vines (many were planted in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s) produce concentrated juice. Alavesa is distinguished from the rest of Rioja by its high altitude, old vines, and hillslope vineyards with a significant proportion of limestone in the soil.

The goal of winemaking is to achieve extremely pure, fresh and well-textured wines that reflect their origin.
