The second-oldest Champagne house is Chanoine Freres, which was established during the reign of Louis XV.

Following the royal decree of March 25th, 1728, Pierre Chanoine created Chanoine Freres in 1730 and dug the first Champagne cellars on rue du Faubourg in Epernay to preserve his wines in bottles rather than barrels.

Almost three centuries later, the importance of the familial tie and feeling of transmission has not changed.

The Chanoine Freres style of quality and character wines created mostly from Pinot Noir grapes is still perpetuated today by about fifty skilled craftsmen.
