The magnificent appellation of Banyuls sur Mer, in the Catalan-bordering French Roussillon region, is where Domaine Madeloc is located.

Winemaker Pierre Gaillard was discovered using a horse to plough the family vineyard when he was 12 years old. He grew up around vineyards. He naturally moved on to study oenology in Montpellier as a result of his passion for farming and winemaking.

After earning his degree, he worked for Guigal as the vineyard manager before setting out on his own and purchasing his first pieces of property in the Rhône Valley in 1981. Pierre, however, was drawn to the Catalan nation by his love of the schist soils and slopes, and in 2002, Pierre bought Domaine Madeloc. 

Elise, Pierre's daughter, joined him at the Domaine in 2009, expanding its size to 18.5 hectares of grapes on both the mountain and the shore. Together, they create wines that are crisp, precise, and fruity from the estate's magnificent slopes that look out onto the Mediterranean.
