The two Lurton brothers decided to try their hand at making wine in the Agly Valley in 1996 after being enamoured with it and its breathtaking landscapes.

They leased a vineyard called Mas Janeil, which has plots located between the communes of Maury and Tautavel.

The old Grenache vines on the Mas Janeil plots soon confirmed both their potential and their differences.

Due to the vineyards at Mas Janeil straddling a geological fault, there is a vast variety of soils. For instance, the schist in the Pas de la Mule plot is fairly dense, but the soil at the foot of Château de Quéribus is composed of limestone and granite.
