Bodegas Juan Gil was established in 1916 when Juan Gil Jiménez constructed the winery. The fourth generation is currently in charge and combines more modern tools and knowledge with more conventional competence.

The current winery, which opened for business in 2002, is located at an elevation of roughly 800 metres on relatively subpar soils. There are significant temperature differences between the day and night, and there is hardly any rain. The rocky sand and limestone soils struggle to hold onto the scant rainfall.

The Monastrell grape, the true star of the Juan Gil project, is mostly grown in the 120 acres of vineyards that surround the winery.

The essence of this company's wines is defined by the traditional Monastrell vines, however they also produce other exotic kinds that provide fruit and spices to select lines.
