Bodega Numanthia is the origin of strong and intense wines, emblematic representations of the famous Designation of Origin Toro, and is deeply entrenched in Spanish history and terroir.

The estate's name, Numanthia, has roots in Roman culture. The citizens of the historic city of Numancia opposed the Roman invaders in 134 B.C., choosing to perish rather than submit.

This aristocratic pedigree is echoed in the terroir of Numanthia, where sturdy and resilient grapes have survived the region's harsh winters and sweltering summers as well as the phylloxera attack that wiped out the majority of Europe's vineyards in the 19th century.

As a result of this heroic perseverance, a few of modest vineyard plots persisted and were meticulously maintained over the years by local people who were fully aware of the unique worth of their land.
