In 1997, Quinta da Plansel began operating. Dorina Lindemann, the daughter of oenologist Jorge Bohm, and her husband Thomas Lindemann immigrated to Portugal from Germany to establish new vineyards.

Dorina Lindemann is a passionate winemaker by nature and by family tradition. Since 1828, Dorina's family has been involved in the vine-growing and wine-making industries.

Quinta da Plansel's success in selecting the ideal locale and grape varietals to work with is a major factor in why their wines taste so wonderful.

In terroirs with Mediterranean characteristics and soils of gneisses or related rocks and diorite, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Aragonez, Alicante Boushet, Trincadeira, Verdelho, Arinto, Gouveio, Viosinho, Esganaco, Encruzado, and Sauvignon Blanc are grown to perfection in Alentejo.

The vines of Quinta da Plansel lie on dense soil that is slanted slightly to the south.
