Don Luis Tirasso established Bodegas Santa Ana in 1891 in Argentina's western Mendoza province's Cuyo region. The winery was abandoned after Tirasso passed away prematurely at the age of 30, until it was purchased in 1935 by Adolfo Basso, his brother Tulio, and business associates Emilio Tonnelier and César Giannini, who transformed it into one of Argentina's largest bodegas.
It stayed in the family until they decided to downsize. The company was sold to the investment group Santa Carolina de Chile in 1996, after which it was acquired by the Peaflor Group, a major Argentine wine producer that is today ranked among the top 10 wine producers globally.
Santa Ana, located high in the Andes, has some of the best vineyard sites in the area and produces a wide range of crowd-pleasing wines with distinctly Argentinian characteristics that are incredibly affordable.
