The expertise of winemaker Gilles Gaudron at domaine Sylvain Gaudron is the consequence of techniques passed down through four generations of winemakers who have lived in Vernou sur Brenne, since 1890.

Tradition, however, is insufficient for Gilles, who constantly strives to raise the bar and produce better wines. His Vouvray wines frequently rank among the top selections at the most prestigious wine competitions as a result.

The Vouvray appellation wine growing region is situated in the well-known 'Valley of the French kings', upstream of Tours, on the banks of the Loire river.

A total of 2,200 hectares (5,400 acres) of slopes with siliceous clay and chalky clay soil are where the vineyards are situated.
