This is a classic Left Bank claret, with lovely, intense black berry fruit, tinged with nuances of green leaves and tobacco, and just a hint of Medoc gravelliness On the palate, it is deliciously soft and succulent, with ripe, rounded tannin and hints of caramel and toasted oak Located on the boundary with Margaux, neigbouring Chateau Cantenac-Brown, Chateau de Villegeorge was purchased by Lucien Lurton in 1973, who eventually bequeathed it to his daughter Marie-Laure, who has been winemaker since 1986 Building on the quality afforded to the wines by the well-sited vineyard's deep gravel soils, the cellars have seen significant investment in recent years The winery has been recognised and certified as environmentally friendly by Terra Vitis since 2003
