Gewürztraminer, prized for its powerful floral scents, has flourished for ages in the Vosges and Alps' foothills. While many have a sweet scent, as they mature many become dry and even show a savoury side.

Gewürztraminer is comparable to the mature Moscato. It is a grape with a wide variety of styles that is intensely aromatic. The tropical fruit and flowery aromas in most wines give them a sweet aroma, although many wines are dry and contain little to no added sugar.

It's unclear where Gewüztraminer originated, but some people think it's from the Italian town of Tramin in the Alto Adige region, which is tucked away in the Alps. Although it now has homes all throughout the world, Alsace, where we find more than 25% of the plantings, is now its adopted homeland in France.
