With a rich history dating back more than 150 years in the wine industry, Cantina Bertani continues to produce some of the best Venetian wines, including the prestigious estate Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG wines.

Gaetano Bertani's adventure began in 1850 when he went to Burgundy to study under Jules Guyot brand-new and cutting-edge viticultural methods. In 1857, Bertani and his brother established Cav. G.B. Bertani in Valpantena, a pre-alpine valley between Verona and Lago di Garda, in what was then the Kingdom of Venetia (now Veneto). Bertani and his brother were inspired by Guyot's brilliance for vine cultivation.

The Bertani enterprise grew and expanded throughout the Valpolicella region, the source of some of Italy's finest red wines, and has been exporting wines to the world since 1880, during a time of significant social and political turmoil in that country.
