The vineyards at the Domaine des Carabiniers, which span 40 hectares in the Tavel, Lirac, and Cotes du Rhône appellations, have been organically and biodynamically farmed since 2000 and 2011, respectively.
The Domaine des Carabiniers, which is owned by the Leperchois family and whose members are ardent proponents of the biodynamic way of life, gets its name from its previous life as a coaching inn, and the initial cellars were built in the ancient stables.
In its vines, Domaine des Carabiniers uses certified organic and biodynamic techniques. The vines are surrounded by heat-reflecting pebbles and growing in Pliocene sand. Composted grape pomace is ploughed into the soil during the vines' dormant season to improve it. To choose the fruiting canes, there is a vigorous pruning process.
The protection of the vines is of utmost importance, and the risk of mildew is decreased by daily inspection of the vines while taking into consideration weather patterns. When the grapes have reached the ideal stage of maturity, the vines are plucked while still green to concentrate the tastes in the remaining berries.
