Jim Barry is one of those names that has a particularly deep resonance in Australian wine history. Clare Valley, in South Australia, became one of Australia's top wine districts thanks to Jim Barry's determination to make it a benchmark producer of top-notch Riesling.

Jim earned his oenology degree from the esteemed Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1947, making him the first licenced winemaker in the Clare Valley.

Three generations of Roseworthy alums have controlled Jim Barry Wines since it was founded in 1959.

Jim’s son Peter became managing director in 1985 and today Peter’s children Tom, Sam and Olivia are the winemaker, commercial manager and brand ambassador respectively.

Voted ‘2020 Winery of the Year' at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards, they produce highly acclaimed, award-winning wines.
