Vietti Wines from Great Wines Direct

Nestled in the heart of the Barolo region of Italy, in Castiglione Falletto, the Vietti family have been making wine for four generations. The winery was established in the 1800s by Carlo Vietti, and his son Mario, as well as the following generations, continued his tradition by emphasising increased production, but keeping the quality.

Then, in 1952, one of the first people to choose and vinify grapes from single vineyards (such Brunate, Rocche, and Villero) was Alfredo Currado, the husband of Luciana Vietti. Though at the time a daring idea, almost all Barolo and Barbaresco vintners now provide “single vineyard” or “cru-designated” wines.

Luca Currado Vietti, one of the greatest Piedmont growers, is currently in charge of the winery. Vietti wines are highly prized, with exquisite wine and wonderfully designed labels. Alfredo and Luciana made the decision in 1970 to help a few local artists by having certain labels made into works of art.
