The Dubard family established Château Laulerie, their first wine estate, in the western Montravel section of the Bergerac wine region in the late 1970s. Two other wineries on the right bank of the Dordogne river in the wine appellations of Lalande de Pomerol and Puisseguin St Emilion were revived by the family throughout the years.
Currently, the family owns 83 hectares of grapes that are grown on calcareous-clay soils. They are in complete control of the entire production process, from vine growth through harvest and winemaking to bottling. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec make up 50% of the vineyard's red grapes and 50% of its white grapes (Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Muscadelle).
In the end, two distinct wine appellations; AOC Bergerac and AOC Montravel, a small region included in the western half of the AOC Bergerac, were used to make a high-quality range of white, rosé, and red wines sold under the Domaine du Gouyat and Château Laulerie labels.
