The Grupo Covias tale began in 1965 in the Valencian town of Requena, when ten local cooperatives banded together to establish a distillery. Covias began as a second-degree cooperative, or a large cooperative, bringing together ten cooperatives from Requena and the surrounding area, including Villargordo del Cabriel and Venta del Moro.
