Broken Shackle wines are produced by Berton Vineyards. Bob and Cherie Berton founded Berton Vineyards in 1996 after buying a plot of land in High Eden, a part of the Barossa Valley in South Australia. On gently undulating hills, this lovely home is located 450 metres above sea level.

To handle the roughly 100 tonnes of wine that the High Eden Vineyard produced, it was decided in 2005 to buy a winery. When the former Southcorp winery in Yenda became available in 2005, Bob and Cherie teamed up with James Ceccato, Jamie Bennett, and Paul Bartholomaeus to start Berton Vineyards. In November 2005, they bought the winery and relocated there.

This cutting-edge plant, with a processing capacity of 20,000 tonnes, allows Berton Vineyards to make affordable wines such as the delicious Broken Shackle wines range, in addition to their premium single vineyard offerings.
