The Roccafiore project was launched by Leonardo Baccarelli in the late 1990s with a mission to produce wines only from native grapes with an ecological and sustainable approach.

The valley, which is in the Umbrian town of Todi, stretches from Perugia to Terni in what is referred to as the 'green heart of Italy.'

With the support of a reforestation effort, the estate has been planted to improve its rich biodiversity and fight climate change. The Roccafiore project puts sustainability first by using lightweight bottles, biofuels for agricultural machinery, and less water usage. 

Leonardo's son Luca has joined the family business, where he works with oenologist Alessandro Biancolin, winemaker Cristian Giorgioni, and their estate vineyards to create terroir-driven, mineral wines.

The Roccafiore vineyard, which is accredited by the Green Heart Quality for sustainable agriculture, spans 15 hectares of undulating hills flanked by olive trees.
