Bodegas Aadas are located in the centre of the revitalised Spanish DO Cariena, adjacent to the city of Zaragoza in the province of Aragon. Although it is the oldest D.O. in the area, it had gone out of favour until lately.

The biggest producer is Bodegas Aadas, which produces wines under the Care label (Care is the old Roman name for Cariena). It is currently back in vogue.

The wines are highly fruit forward with good depth and structure and are ideal for sipping both with and without food. They blend the best of current technology with traditional winemaking expertise.

The owner and managing director, Nacho Lazaro, made the biggest tortilla possible for the tasting during our first visit to the vineyard. Nacho was stuck with a fairly substantial lunch because, regrettably, we never eat while tasting!

The Bancales and Cadillos estates date back to the 1980s, while the Peanegra and Zagalcerro Estates date back to the late 1940s and early 1950s and today provide the best fruit for the wine maker to work with.

The vineyards of Bodega Care are divided into 4 distinct parcels. The fruit is fresher and produces wines with a lovely amount of acidity, making the finished products crisp and clean because the latter two are also at a higher altitude.
