Brothers-in-law Daniel Chaffey-Hartwig and Theo Engela are the Chaffey family's fourth and fifth generations to work in the wine industry in Australia. The Chaffey brothers (Canadian hydro engineers) were truly trailblazers. They arrived in Australia in 1886 and went on to leave an indelible influence on the Australian wine landscape (along with a number of their descendants).

Their zero intervention wines are crafted from small parcels of low producing vineyards scattered over the Barossa and Eden valleys. They view themselves as half parfumier - uncovering delicate aromatics - part historian - preserving the integrity of immaculate fruit - and part mad scientist - revelling in the forgotten skill of small batch blending, drawing on authentic ancient vineyards and difficult soils.
