A lawyer from Pauillac named Jacques Mondon bought some vines in the Cissac-Medoc parish in 1895. He merged these many vineyards under the Château Cissac name.
When Louis Vialard received the land from his grandparents Mondon in 1940, he immediately set about renovating the family home, the outbuildings, and the vineyards.
Louis, who was largely in charge of Chateau Cissac's stellar reputation, passed away in 2009. His granddaughter Marie and daughter Danielle will take over after him.
Chateau Cissac is in the distinctive 18th-century 'Chartreuse' architectural style and was likely once a Roman Villa.
