Situated at the base of the Black Mountain, the Chateau d'Agel is part of the Minervois wine appellation in the southern region of France.

The mild winters and hot, dry summers of the temperate Mediterranean climate that the chateau d'agel vineyards enjoy make it the perfect place to grow grapes. The 26 ha vineyard is divided into two halves. One is high up on the Causse de Cazelle, where the land is primarily composed of chalk stones, and the other is planted close to the river on terraced, pebble-covered soil.

Maccabeu, Roussanne, Vermentino, White Grenache, Muscat, Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cinsault are among the many red and white grape varieties that are planted.
