In Corbières, Languedoc, there is a magnificent and illustrious wine estate called Château de Lastours.
The watchtowers (Tours) that guarded the Via Domitia, a perilous path for visitors in mediaeval times, are where the Château gets its name. The farm, which includes 10 hectares of olive trees and 100 hectares of vineyard, is situated in the clay-limestone terroir of the "Corbières Maritime."
After the Revolution, the first vines were planted, but genuine development didn't happen until the Allard family took possession in 2004 and painstakingly renovated the vineyard and cellar.
