Georges Lavaud, a first-generation winemaker who had previously worked as an agricultural consultant, acquired Château du Gravillon in 1960.
He did this out of a sense of enthusiasm. Hubert Lavaud, the estate's owner and winemaker who is HVE Level 3 certified and practises sustainable agriculture, is currently in charge. He is Georges' son.
The Château Gravillon is a 3.5 acre parcel of excellent terroir hidden in the Saint Emilion region, next to the renowned Grand Cru Classé Château Monbousquet. It is part of the commune of Saint Sulpice de Faleyrens.
Château Gravillon makes approachable wines typical of the appellation and gets its name from the gravel soils.
