In Sancerre, fourth-generation winemaker Eric Louis is carrying on his family's tradition. Pauline, Eric's grandmother, established the estate in 1860 and gave it the name "Les Celliers de la Pauline."
The Eric Louis estate, which is in the Sancerre appellation's southeast, was given to Eric's parents, Ginette and Leon, who turned the family business away from polyculture and towards fine winemaking in the 1980s.
Currently, the 35-hectare vineyard encircles the towns of Vinon, Thauvenay, and Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre on a mosaic of more than 60 parcels. Eric carefully tends to the vines using a wide range of geological profiles, showing the utmost regard for each terroir and its surroundings.
The estate is now converting from its HVE Level 3 certification to its organic certification. To guarantee that the wines accurately capture the subtleties of the terroir of this renowned area, the vinification process is carried out with the highest care and minimal sulphur. The wines have amazing fruit expression and are mineral-forward, precise, and polished.
