In Patagonia, Argentina's most southern wine-producing region, which includes the provinces of Rio Negro, La Pampa, and Neuquen, Humberto Canale was founded in 1909. The viticulture industry in the area was greatly influenced by Canale, the oldest winery in Patagonia.

Humberto Canale's family had immigrated to Argentina from Genoa around 1860. As the desert was conquered, Humberto developed into an engineer whose responsibility it was to put in place the irrigation systems for the area. With his keen sense of the land, he saw the potential of this lush region at 39.2 degrees south latitude, where the combination of chilly nights and bright days perfectly ripens grapes.

With 160 hectares of vines grown on silty loam soils and watered by snowmelt from the Andes, Humberto Canale is a winery in Patagonia's Alto Valle del Rio Negro region. Guillermo Barzi Canale, who is the sixth generation to oversee the company, is the owner and operator.

In their cutting-edge winery, classic Bordeaux and Burgundy grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc) are crafted into a diverse range of exceptional wines, the founder's traditional handmade processes are respected alongside modern winemaking techniques.
