One of Pomerol's most recognised vineyards is Chateau La Fleur-Petrus. This historic estate, which is entirely on a plateau, received its name in the 18th century due to its proximity to the communities of 'Petrus' and 'La Fleur.'

Jean-Pierre Moueix, who has been in business in Libourne since 1937, recognised the Pomerol appellation's superior quality at an early stage. His very first purchase was Chateau La Fleur-Pétrus in 1950. Soon after, in 1953, he bought Château Trotanoy.

The distinctive characteristics of Château La Fleur-Petrus come from the thoughtful blending of the famed clay and gravel terroirs of the Pomerol plateau. The variations of the soil and elevation of each parcel give the vineyard, which is situated between 33 and 38 metres above sea level, its unique character.
