This grape variety – also called Piquepoul – is named after its high acidity; translated, it means something like “lip biter”.

The Les Prades Wine comes from Pinet, between Agde and Mèze (Mediterranean coast), right on the 'Bassin de Thau', where the famous oysters and mussels of the 'Etang de Thau' come from. 

The wine grows on a limestone plateau with clayey soil (only 40m above sea level). Because it is close to the sea, there is a micro-climate there.
