The renowned winemaker Maurice O'Shea founded Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley in 1921 from two adjacent plots of property that he named Mount Pleasant and totaled 16.3 hectares.

As Chief Winemaker, Maurice produced some of Australia's finest wines, earning him the titles of Grandfather of Australian Wine and Industry Pioneer.

Maurice O'Shea tragically passed suddenly in 1956, but world-class winemakers have carried on his legacy.

In 2018, award-winning winemaker Adrian Sparks took over as the fifth Chief Winemaker and continued to create wines of the highest calibre from this renowned estate.
