The production of white wines from Rioja's cool-climate grapes is the speciality of Bodegas Nivarius. The estate vineyard, which spans 11 hectares, is also a heritage recovery project that attempts to re-establish some of the rarer native white varietals from La Rioja that have adapted naturally to each terroir. As a result, together with old vines of Viura and Grenache Blanc, a variety that was previously all but extinct, Maturana Blanca, has emerged as a mainstay. 

The name Nivarius, which translates to "snow-drift," comes from the typical sight of the white blanket that blankets the vineyards in the winter. The vineyards are located in Nalda, 17 miles from Logrono, and face north.

They are 800 metres above sea level, which naturally results in exceptionally aromatic, fresh fruit. Sustainable agricultural methods and minimum winemaking intervention produce unique wines that are bursting with natural freshness.
