Nikos Karatzas, a brilliant winemaker, started Oenops wines in 2015 as a negociant, producing a spectacular range of unusual wines from his newly established state-of-the-art winery.

He seeks indigenous and uncommon grape types planted on great terroir in Drama and Macedonia, with a focus on cool-climate areas and old-vine plots, from carefully selected vineyards cultivated by ambitious winegrowers with an ecological attitude.

Niko uses stainless steel, concrete, oak barrels, and amphora to vinify his wines at Oenops wines with little interference. His goal is to find outstanding fruit and construct wines that reflect the nuances of native types and the individuality of the terroir, resulting in a range of authentic, elegant, and tasty wines.
