Only a few kilometres away from Porto Pino's glittering beaches and white sand dunes, in the Sulcis region of southwest Sardinia, is the Cantina di Santadi Winery.

It was founded in 1960, and after experiencing some early challenges, new management gave it a dramatic boost. This management was motivated by a strong desire that stoked enthusiasm and passion.

As a result, the Winery started an ambitious programme, implementing new tactics and setting distinct goals, streamlining its operations, and giving clear instructions to its associate grape growers.

Santadi believe that good wine is created in the vineyard and it is the winemakers responsibility to improve grape quality through skillful farming and then, in the winery, to maximise this natural gift.

About 75% of the overall crop is processed in the Santadi Winery, primarily from black grapes. For red wines, Carignano, Monica, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, and Bovaleddu are the most significant varietals; for white wines, Vermentino, Nuragus, Chardonnay, and Nasco are the most significant.

The cultivation practices used in vineyards are meticulously planned to maximise grape quality while maintaining low production per plant.
