One of Argentina's first wine makers, Tiburico Benegas, established 'El Trapiche' in 1883 when he bought the Mendoza property that already had a modest vineyard and gave it the name. Up until 1971, Trapiche was owned by the Benegas family. They are owned by Group Peaflor and are currently the largest premium wine exporter in the nation.

Traditional French grape types, the use of French oak barrels, and micro-terroir wines are just a few of the advances that Trapiche was a pioneer in. With more than 1,250 hectares of vineyards, Trapiche is a bio-dynamic producer.

They obtain their remarkable grapes from a number of exceptional mountain vineyards located all across Mendoza, allowing a wealth of diversity to be exhibited in their wide range of distinctive and premium wines. 

They also operate a second winery in the Chapadmalal area, where vineyards are situated just 6 kilometres inland from the Atlantic Ocean.

Naturally, Trapiche specialise in Malbec and the winery sells more of it than any other in the world, and its Terroir Collection includes some superb Malbecs. But they also make a wide variety of red and white wines, including some elegant Cabernet Sauvignons, Pinot Noirs, and Chardonnays, to name a few, in their renowned winery, which was built in the style of the Italian Renaissance and is equipped with cutting-edge technology, at the foot of the Andes. 

Trapiche has received numerous honours, including being named "The Most Awarded Argentine Winery" by the WRW&S for the fourth year in a row, being chosen as one of "The 50 Most Admired Wine Brands" by Drinks International, the only Argentinian winery to receive five of these selections, and being named "The New World Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast in 2019.
