Mati Fortuna Classic Red - Astir X - 75cl

Greece
Agiorgitiko, Cabernet Sauvignon
GWD Exclusive
Explore Mati Fortuna Classic Red from our exclusive Astir X range: a dry Greek red blending Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon, with PGI Peloponnese origin. We recommend it for anyone who enjoys smooth, fruit-forward reds with gentle spice.
Plum, vanilla and dried forest-fruit notes meet an opulent, velvety palate and balanced tannins. Six months in new French oak barrels followed by twelve months in bottle complement its rounded character.
We suggest serving it with grilled red meats, casseroles, pasta dishes or Mediterranean cooking. Available only through Great Wines Direct in the UK.

The Wine – Premium Greek Wines with a Modern Spirit

Astir X produces distinctive wines from the historic Peloponnese region of southern Greece, a landscape renowned for its winemaking heritage stretching back thousands of years. Combining native Greek grape varieties with carefully selected international varieties, the winery creates expressive wines that celebrate the richness and diversity of Mediterranean winemaking.

Benefiting from the region's abundant sunshine, varied microclimates and distinctive terroir, Astir X wines offer a combination of vibrant fruit, elegant structure and refined character. Every bottle reflects a commitment to quality, authenticity and bringing the best of modern Greek winemaking to wine lovers around the world.

The Estate – A Family Winemaking Heritage Since 1932

Located near Kalamata in the beautiful region of Messinia, Astir X traces its winemaking roots to 1932, when the Xygkoros family established a small wine press. Over successive generations, the family developed the business into a modern winery, combining traditional knowledge with advanced production facilities.

Today, the winery works closely with 88 local grape growers, overseeing approximately 80 hectares of carefully selected vineyards. Its facilities include temperature-controlled fermentation tanks, French oak ageing barrels and a dedicated micro-winery where limited-edition wines and innovative blends are developed.

The Winemakers – Three Generations of Family Passion

Astir X is driven by brothers Vangelis and Stathis Xygkoros, who grew up surrounded by the vineyards and winemaking traditions established by their grandfather and father.

Bringing fresh ideas and modern expertise to their family's heritage, they have developed Astir X into a contemporary expression of Greek winemaking. Working alongside their specialist viticultural and winemaking teams, they combine careful grape selection, precise production techniques and creative experimentation to produce wines that celebrate both tradition and innovation.
