Meet David Kelly
Founder & Wine Procurement Lead
David founded Great Wines Direct in 2003 and leads our wine selection, seeking out distinctive bottles and building relationships with producers.
The focus is character: wines that give you a reason to return, alongside discoveries that offer a different grape, region or perspective. Not simply a label to recognise, but a bottle you'll look forward to opening.

Our sourcing brings together tasting, producer knowledge and an understanding of what customers enjoy. We consider a wine's style, its origins and the place it earns in the range.
That gives you room to explore, whether you want a familiar favourite or a less familiar discovery.
Advice without the jargon
You don't need to know every grape or region. Tell us a wine you've enjoyed, your budget and what you're planning. That's a useful place to start.
We can help you narrow the choice for dinner, a gift or a celebration, without turning it into a lesson.
